This year's Global Campus writer's award had a fun theme, 'Travelling to the Year 2122'. Children in Years 2, 4 and 6 explored this theme and then showed their creativity in various writing genres.
In Year 2, the Extended English lesson focused on diary writing. The children imagined what life would be like 100 years from now; there were lots of robots and flying vehicles!
The children then wrote a diary entry describing a day in 2122.
In Year 4, the children completed workshops using the Global Campus site. We very much enjoyed the expert workshops about film and comics. We then thought about how places we knew had changed over the course of 100 years. We imagined how things might change in the next hundred years and we produced poems, comics and short films about our futuristic ideas.
In Year 6, the children explored Poetry. They spent time learning about many different types of poetry: Haiku, Cinquain, Limerick, Sonnet and Free Verse. They then took time to plan and choose their favourite poetry style; the creativity from all students was fantastic!
We ran competitions in all year groups to choose our favourite entries, and the overall winner in each year group has been entered into the online Global Campus competition to represent BISB.
Congratulations to the overall KS1 winner Eric in Year 2 and KS2 winner Dunja in Year 6 for her poem called 'The Accidental Journey'.
Well done to all our children for taking part and good luck in the competition!
