Partnership and Community

Partnership and Community

One of the greatest lessons we have all learned over the past two years is that human connection is invaluable. Our school prides itself in its Core Purpose and Values statement is “Partnership and Community.” In recent times, this has been harder to promote since we have been limited in terms of mixing groups of people or children, but we are making headway.

Juilliard visit
We opened our doors this morning to parents who were interested in finding out more about our collaboration with Juilliard. Those who attended found the session useful. One termed it a “window into what happens in school.” Please keep an eye open for upcoming community events that we are now able to offer once again on the school premises.

Primary Play Leaders
Students in Y6 have recently undertaken the role of “Play Leaders” during break times. The principle is that they support and model healthy interactions for their younger peers and introduce new games for them to engage in. This is a mutually beneficial activity. The Y1 and Y2 children engage beautifully in their new games whilst the Y6 students commit to their responsibility with patience, kindness, and consideration. It has been truly heartwarming to observe this partnership developing this week.

Alumni
The strength of our community often draws back well-known faces from the past. We always appreciate when a student returns to visit to share where their lives have taken them. Recently, we have seen Oliver, Grace, Sofie, Avani, and Morgane. This week, two of our IB graduates from June 2021 delighted us with their tales at the front office. Ashton is currently at Queen’s University with a goal of graduating as a registered nurse. Isabelle is also at Queen’s majoring in communications with a minor in marketing and is headed to California this summer for the first of her internships.

The unique BISC Alumni connection also reaches far beyond the United States as several of our Alumni who attend universities abroad regularly stay connected through trips to meet in various parts of the world during school breaks. Most recently, Sofie, who took an organized traveling gap year, met up with Oliver and Ainsley in London for the last leg and final destination of her journey.

Returning to the BISC Family
You will see in the message below that Amber Auayuang will be returning to our community to rejoin the Early Years’ Team. In her bio, she writes that she is ready to return to her “BISC family.” We are looking forward to welcoming her back to the fold in May.

We are looking forward to many more instances of promoting partnership and community over the rest of this term and into next academic year.
