Science IAs

The Y12 have spent the whole week off timetable completing their science IAs. These IAs are really a special part of Group 4 in the IB Diploma Programme and are worth 20% of their final grade. The Ias are quite an undertaking because they push their Approaches To Learning (ATL) skills outside their comfort zone. They must manage their own time this week, juggling collecting results with report writing, demonstrate personal responsibility for their experiments and equipment and push their experimental techniques and skills by developing their own research question and designing a method that can be used to answer it. These are all big skills, that require a lot of personal development and each student has had highs and lows this week but, ultimately, we have managed to collect enough data for them to write their first draft of the report over the summer!
