Primary Swim Gala

Primary Swim Gala - primary-swim-gala
Primary Swim Gala Last week was an action-packed week of swimming for our Primary School students!

Last week was an action-packed week of swimming for our Primary School students!

On Wednesday our Key Stage 1 students (Year 1& 2) came down to the swimming pool to showcase their learning and progress within our learn to swim program this year to their parents. Students had the opportunity to swim a range of strokes that they were comfortable with and compete in some friendly races with some of their classmates!

On Thursday morning, our Key Stage 2 students in Years 3 - 5 came together to compete in their houses as they battled to be crowned Primary Swim Gala champions 2021! Could the Normans, our reigning 2019 champions, win again?

Well, the morning turned into one of our closest swim galas in memory, with some fantastic efforts and performances in the pool from our young swimmers across the age groups.  Students competed over 25m, 50m and even the 100m IM across all four key strokes before we finished off with some relays!

When the time came to announce the results, we recognised some of the outstanding individual efforts over the morning by awarding gold, silver and bronze medals to the top three overall point scorers in each year group. Then came the moment of truth, the pool held it's breath and fell silent as the final team results were announced.:

Romans.... 4th....

Vikings...... 3rd....

Normans....2nd.... (342 points)

Saxons.... 1st..... (346 points)

The pool then erupted with the sound of Saxons celebrating a historic and memorable win. The Saxons came up to collect their trophy from our head of Primary, Mr Jones, and they lifted it proudly to loud cheers and applause from their peers and parents! Some of them were probably still dancing with joy on the bus home this afternoon....

All in all, a very enjoyable morning of swimming and a very well done to all swimmers who took part. Thank you to all parents for your incredible support this morning and we look forward to 2022 already!
