Royal Tea Party

Royal Tea Party - royal-tea-party
Royal Tea Party Year 1 celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II with a fancy royal tea party.

As Queen Elizabeth II prepared to celebrate 70 years as Queen on February 6th, a couple of other “royals” appeared to take time out pop in to visit Year One. A smartly-dressed “Prince William” and his wife, “Kate, Duchess of Cambridge”, stopped off on a flying visit, joining the students for a right royal tea party! The students had been following a topic themed “Bright Lights, Big City” focused on London, and, in this jubilee year, the Queen. After learning how the Queen hosts a grand tea party each year, the children decided to do the same, preparing tea and sandwiches and formally welcoming their “Royal” guests to take part. Prince William (back in his role as School Principal, Mr. Shephard) said afterwards, “It was wonderful to see the children using their very best manners to welcome such important guests to the school and to thank them so perfectly before they left! I am sure the real Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge would have been equally impressed!”
