BSN Career Day Key Speaker Mr and Mrs Burat

On Wednesday 8th BSN held a careers day for secondary students that included a visit from Mr and Mrs Burat. 

Dr. Sinan Burat is a licensed landscape architect (BaLArch) in Turkey, with a master degree (MSc) on urban design and a doctorate degree (PhD) on urban planning, both of which are from Middle East Technical University (Turkey). He is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Southeast University, Faculty of Architecture. He has won several awards and degrees from urban design and park design competitions in Turkey. He is recently working on topics like urban green space planning, urban ecology, climate crisis and adaptation strategies. He has recently coordinated and taken part in preparation of the first urban green space strategic plan of Turkey.

Dr. Esra Şahin Burat is a licensed architect in Turkey and an Associate Professor at the Southeast University in Nanjing. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from the Middle East Technical University (Turkey), Master of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (USA), and PhD in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania (USA). She is a recipient of the SOM Foundation Fellowship and the ACSA Steel Design Award for Excellence among other awards. She co-designed several urban renewal projects in Turkey and recently participated in an extensive research project on shelter design led by the University of Bath (UK).
