The Amazing Bronze Duke of Edinburgh trip to Nam Cang
"After 6 hours of walking through the Sapa countryside, the groups started to arrive at the campsite and began to put up their tents. Some students were also brave enough to go for a little dip in the river to cool down from the day’s trek". This wonderful experience in beautiful nature of Nam Cang, Sapa was just a part of the amazing story about the Bronze Duke Edinburgh trip (DofE) told by Jason Lincoln, the Humanities and EAL Teacher of BVIS Hanoi.

BVIS talents at World Scholar’s Championship Tournament
The competition officially started on November 19th at the Yale University. It can be described as a busy day and the hardest day of the competition for all the Scholars. The three teams were facing a huge challenge today, as they are in the Senior/Open round which means they are competing against Scholars aged 16 and 17 years! Although they were understandably a little intimidated, they rose to the occasion and have done themselves and BVIS extremely proud.

On 14th November, we were privileged to welcome Prof. Paul Jensen, Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne, to deliver a masterclass in ‘Innovation and Public Policy’. Our students witnessed first-hand the format and atmosphere of a university lecture, helping them appreciate what to expect when they enrol in their course at university.

Creating Room For Different Voices
This term sees an exciting partnership formed between BVIS and the Nhan Chinh School for Deaf Children. Our Secondary students meet up once a week during ECA time to brainstorm ways in which they can be of service to deaf children at Nhan Chinh, and at the same time learn how to communicate with others who do not have the same ease of communication as themselves.

North East Asian Mathematics Competition, Tokyo – Japan
The competition was attended by over 25 international schools from a huge range of countries including Japan, China, Korea, India and Bangladesh. We were the only team from Vietnam and so tactically we were hoping that all of the questions were going to be in Vietnamese!

FOBISIA Drama Festival at Bangkok
On Thursday last week we went on a trip to Bangkok to attend the 2017 FOBISIA drama festival. There we did a lot of workshops where we focused on the work of five famous theatre practitioners; Stanislavski, Berkoff, Frantic Assembly, Brecht and Artaud.
