Primary Weekly Update 12/01/2018 from Mr Nicholas West Happy New Year! It is wonderful to see everyone back in school, fit and healthy and looking forward to the term ahead. The most important time of the year in Vietnam is fast approaching with Lunar New Year happening in just a few weeks’ time. Like in the UK, New Year is a time for fresh starts and new opportunities to be taken, it is a time to be ambitious. Let’s hope we are all ambitious and try out new things which we persevere at and hopefully enjoy success. A warm welcome too for all our new families joining us at the start of this calendar year.

Happy New Year! It is wonderful to see everyone back in school, fit and healthy and looking forward to the term ahead. The most important time of the year in Vietnam is fast approaching with Lunar New Year happening in just a few weeks’ time. Parents will notice two big changes already this year, following discussions and consultations with staff and the parent ambassadors. There are big changes in how we communicate with you about your child and their learning, and also in the way we will be now giving home learning. Detailed letters and information sessions will be held on these to answer any of your questions and we do hope you will be as excited about them as we all were as we developed them.

Class DoJo is an instant way to award house points and share the learning of your child and their class with you. As soon as your child comes home from school you will be able to congratulate them or have something to talk about that they have done that day. Combined with the curriculum information we send you, and the exit points you are invited too, you should now have greater information as to what your child is learning and how you can support them at home. Stars of the Week will also be published on Class Dojo for you to enjoy and information on learning for the week ahead. This is just the beginning and as time progresses children will be able to build their own story and share their learning at school and at home on their own page and as parents you will be able to see messages from the teacher and ask any questions you may have.

Home learning will now be a published grid of independent learning activities for the children to complete over a number of weeks. The choices will be differentiated and the children will have the ability to choose the activities they enjoy, from a minimum amount to completing everything if they do so wish. We will also be including a greater variety of activities to appeal to all different learning styles. More detail will come home on Monday along with the new format of home learning, we hope you and your children benefit from it.

Have a great weekend.
