Dear Families
This will be the last update for this academic year and what a year it has been!
Last Friday I had the immense pleasure of attending the Year 13 Graduation Ceremony. What an incredible occasion saying congratulations and farewell to our students.
Last night it was the turn of our Year 6 students to celebrate the end of their Primary Education here at BVIS. A wonderful event enjoyed by all. Well done everyone.
We have lots of special award ceremonies coming up in the final days and I'm looking forward to celebrating the year and recognising the exceptional achievements of many students this year.
I am already looking forward to next year and there are some exciting developments for the school.
We are making the final preparation for the upcoming summer school and there are still some places left, so sign up to avoid disappointment.
It just leaves me to wish you all a very happy and safe summer holiday ahead and I look forward to seeing many of you back in school in August. Thank you for your incredible support to BVIS it has been greatly appreciated by all.
A reminder please that school will finish at 12.30 on Wednesday 25th June. School will start again for students on Thursday 14th August.
This year, Early Years have had a joyful journey filled with learning, laughter, and growth. The transition day this week demonstrated just how much they have progressed. They have thrived, developed their abilities and embraced every opportunity to play, explore, and succeed.
Year 1 have been discussing how foods are made, and where our food comes from.
They made their own bean sprouts using recycled milk cartons.
Every day, the children took care of their sprouts, and they were all very excited to watch their plants grow and wait for the harvest.
This week, the children drew their own bird’s-eye view maps, inspired by Treasure Island. They added creative details like pirate caves, volcanoes, and hidden treasure. Using coordinates and creating their own keys, they worked hard to make their maps clear, colourful, and easy to follow. We were so impressed!
To celebrate the end of our Temples, Tombs and Treasures topic, Year 3 put on a fantastic show! Students sang, danced, and presented before showcasing their work in our Ancient Egypt museum.
Afterwards, families joined us in classrooms for hands-on activities like building working shadufs, making papyrus, and decorating sarcophagi.
Year 4 wowed everyone with their Active Planet assembly! They shared vibrant volcano art, sang songs, recited poems, and amazed the audience with an explosive science experiment exploring how materials react. A brilliant showcase of creativity, teamwork, and curiosity – well done, Year 4!
Here are some pictures of Year 5 taking part in a fantastic transition day. They had the opportunity to meet their new teacher and experience a new learning environment. Through a variety of engaging activities, they were able to build new friendships, boost their confidence, and begin to feel more prepared for the year ahead.
In Maths, Year 6 explored lines and angles through a variety of engaging contexts. From interactive games to creative challenges and problem-solving investigations, they developed a strong understanding of key concepts while applying their skills in new and exciting ways.
This edition of the newsletter celebrates some recent events which have taken place in Secondary but also looks forward to the next academic year.
Last Friday we celebrated Graduation with our Year 13 students and their families. It was a wonderful celebration which was a fitting end to their time at BVIS. We are extremely proud of the achievements and know they will be going on to very bright and exciting futures
Our recent Art Exhibition was a fantastic celebration of our students' creativity, talent, and hard work. The PAC was filled with colour, imagination, and energy as it was transformed into a gallery space that truly brought the artwork to life.
The pieces from our KS5 and KS4 students were a real highlight. You could see the dedication behind each piece, the hours of effort, the experimentation, and the personal journeys that shaped their final work. Their art demonstrated incredible technical skill, bold ideas, and genuine originality, and many visitors praised the inspiring quality of their creations.
Our KS3 students infused the exhibition with vibrance and creativity. From delicate watercolour playing cards to striking 3D favela models and beautifully detailed Vietnamese mosaics, their work added so much colour and personality to the event.
Congratulations to all our artists. We are so proud of what you’ve achieved. Thank you to everyone who came to support and help make the exhibition a special occasion.
Korean students from year 10 and year 12 had a special opportunity to visit the Korean Embassy in Vietnam. After a brief tour of the embassy's exterior, the students went inside to engage in meaningful conversations with diplomats.
This visit offered the students a valuable chance to gain a deeper understanding of the history, present, and future of diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam. Furthermore, the students experienced the vibrant reality of the diplomatic field by directly hearing about the various tasks the embassy undertakes by actively asking questions and with the presentations. It was a special occasion for the future leaders to broaden their perspectives on diplomacy and widen an interest in international relations.
As this term draws to a close, we are very much looking forward to the exciting changes which are coming next academic year!
Over the summer, some important and exciting changes will take place which our students will enjoy when they return in August.
• New menus and canteen provider – Students will enjoy delicious and nutritious lunches from our new catering team
• Football pitch- Our astro is being upgraded to a top of the range playing surface which students will enjoy in PE, ECAs and at break and lunch.
Experiences outside the classroom are an important and enriching part of student life at BVIS. We are committed to continuing to develop and enhance our approaches.
• ECAs – Next year, in addition to some new and exciting ECAs, we will have 4 blocks of ECAs throughout giving students more choice and variety
• Residentials – This year, our students had a wonderful time on their residential trips. Next year our Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 residentials will take place in October 2025. This will be a great opportunity for year groups and tutors to bond and enjoy fun activities at an ideal time of the year.
