Year 3

This week, Year 3 students continued their rainforest adventure. In English, we explored adjectives to describe rainforest animals and wrote creative stories giving animals their own voices using speech marks. In IPC, students learned about different rainforest plants and animals and how they adapt to survive in their environment. The children enjoyed discovering fascinating facts, from how animals camouflage to how plants collect sunlight and water. It was wonderful to see them use what they learned in their writing and discussions.

Multi Lingual Week

Last week we celebrated multi-lingual week which was a valuable opportunity for us to recognize, celebrate, and welcome the many languages spoken within our school community. Through these events, we not only explore new languages, but we also discover so much more about our students and their incredible talents.

The sessions included:

  • Dutch/Afrikaans by Mr. Hendrik
  • Arabic/Turkish by Senarya (Year 9)
  • Japanese by Jessie (Year 13)
  • Czech by Alex (Year 11)
  • Italian by Mr. Gino
  • Polish by Mr. Henryk
  • Spanish by Ms. Romero
  • Irish by Ms. Lynne
  • Mandarin by Eva (Year 12)
  • German by Dieu Anh
  • Korean by Hyeseung and Yunhoo (Year 11)

Each session has been engaging, interactive, and such a joy for our students to experience.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to our EAL Ambassadors—Pham Duc and Khanh Ngoc (Year 12) and Taeyeon (Year 11)—for their support throughout the week.

It has been wonderful to see our community come together to share knowledge, celebrate cultural diversity, and deepen mutual understanding. We look forward to the remaining sessions and to continuing to embrace the many languages and cultures that make our school so special.

JV Boys Land Elusive HAC Title

The HAC season began unusually with three championship volleyball tournaments to align eight international school calendars.

At Concordia International School, Hanoi, the Varsity boys finished 5th/6th after a tight loss to HIS and a win over UNIS, while the Varsity girls reached the semi-finals before being edged by Concordia.

On Friday, the JV boys competed at RGSV, defeating the home team and St Paul’s to advance to the final against Concordia.

In a dramatic title match, Royal City’s Dragons secured the HAC trophy following a close second set, with Jim (Quoc Hung) delivering the decisive serve.

Winning, elation and trophies aren't the centre of this programme, but watching the joy, pride and satisfaction on the JV boys faces - it sure does feel good to be a DRAGON!

Spanish ECA

Each week, our students have a fantastic time exploring countries where Spanish is the primary language. With curiosity and focus, they research different cultures and communities — and bring knowledge to life! After the lessons, they apply what they learned to speak about themselves in Spanish, making meaningful connections between language and identity.

Year 7 STEAM Project – Redesigning the Human Body

Year 7 have now started their B1 STEAM project, where they are challenged to design a brand-new organ for the human body. Drawing on their science learning from their first unit of study on cells, tissues, and organ systems, they are brainstorming, planning, and building models of future organs that could help humans survive challenges such as climate change, pollution, or even space travel.

We are excited to see how their creative ideas and scientific knowledge will come together in the final showcase.
