Dear Families
What a wonderful morning we had at the Christmas Fair. It was the biggest and best one yet. It was so nice to see the community come together, have some fun and celebrate the end of term and this special time of year. Thank you all for your support and contributions to the event it was very special.

There is so much happening in the last week of this term. I was delighted to attend the EYFS Christmas performance on Wednesday.

On Thursday I had the pleasure of attending the first ever TEDx event led by students here at BVIS. A brilliant event and congratulations to all the students involved.

I know there are many more events to fit in before the end of term including academic awards, assemlies and exit points. It promises to be a very busy, but very motivating end to what has been an incredible term here at BVIS.
Please be reminded that school will finish for the break at 12.30 on Wednesday 17th December. School will reopen for students on Tuesday 6th January. It just leaves me on behalf of BVIS to wish you all a wonderful Christmas break and I hope you all have a wonderful time with your families.

EYFS are getting into the Christmas spirit and enjoying taking part in festive activities.

This week, Year 1 designed, created, and tested their very own marble runs! The children began by thinking carefully about the materials they would need and discussing how they wanted their designs to look. Using their planning sheets to guide them, they worked collaboratively to build some truly fantastic marble runs.
They were so proud to try them out and see their ideas come to life.

This week, Year 2 has been learning about rhyming words and how to use them in poetry! We have been making lots of rhyming lists. We also are learning about the brain in IPC and how we use it to solve puzzles and problems!

Year 3 students are showing off their amazing creativity and dexterity as they craft unique Christmas cards, as they excitedly count down the days until Christmas.

Year 4 enjoyed a truly memorable Exit Point for the topic “What’s on the Menu?” The wide range of dishes and drinks, lovingly prepared at home with the support of their families, created a vibrant and flavourful food festival. Pupils were not only excited to taste each other’s creations but also proud to present their dishes and talk about how they were made. The event was filled with joy, confidence, and wonderful culinary experiences for everyone.

Year 5 had an exciting and hands-on learning session as they made and decorated their own gingerbread cookies for Christmas. The students learned about the baking process, kneaded the dough, shaped their cookies, and got creative with a variety of colourful decorations. The activity not only brought joy but also helped them develop fine motor skills, patience, and teamwork. The lovely cookies they crafted themselves became meaningful Christmas gifts that they were truly proud of!

The Year 6 students wrapped up their Making the News unit with an incredible performance today. From catchy songs to entertaining skits, they showcased so much of what they have learned this term about the history of communication, the different roles within a news team, and the many types of news we encounter each day.
We are embracing lots of festive celebrations at BVIS. On Thursday we had a fantastic time at the annual Christmas market. This student-led event featured lots of stalls and activities which offered the students the opportunity to have fun and raise lots of money for charity!
The corridors have become a winter wonderland with lots of creative and fun festive door decorations. Year 7 students have been incredibly excited about this Christmas Door Competition. They have been working enthusiastically to decorate their classroom doors, showing great teamwork and creativity. The Christmas spirit is spreading throughout the school, and it has been truly lovely to see how much effort and joy the students have put into this activity. The festive atmosphere is definitely growing stronger every day!

Next week, we are looking forward to carol singing, the staff pantomime and our end of term assembly.
Last Thursday and Friday audiences were wowed by the BVIS production of The Addams Family. This was a spectacular performance including song and dance showcasing our talented students. The students' confident, expressive, and energy-filled performances left the audiences wowed!

On Thursday we hosted our first ever TEDxBVIS Hanoi Youth. The event embraced the theme “Intersections: Mapping the Spaces in Between,” and featured 3 student speakers and 3 special guest speakers who explored leadership, culture, and connection through real life stories. It was a wonderful evening which sparked curiosity and brought fresh perspectives to our school.

We are delighted to share the Winter Edition of Ignite Magazine. It is packed full of amazing articles written by our talented student journalists. The online edition can be viewed here - ignite_winter_2025
The team were rewarded with a pizza publishing party to celebrate this awesome edition!

In the Fun Crafts ECA, students demonstrated remarkable creativity and craftsmanship by producing beautiful handmade items. These activities not only nurture artistic skills but also encourage patience, focus, and self-expression.
