As a school, we set out with a clear goal of growing girls’ participation in sport. Through encouragement, support, opportunity, and belief in our girls we have seen fantastic numbers across sports and competitions this year. This group has truly embraced that challenge and have done for the last number of years. Given time, trust, and opportunity, they have invested fully in the process, putting in the effort and energy required to make a genuine impact.
This group has now won both the KS3 and KS4 HAC Basketball titles, but what makes them exceptional is not simply their results — it is their commitment to each other. Season after season, across multiple sports and competitions, they continue to show up, support one another, and represent BVIS with integrity and pride. The bond they have built is something special, and we are incredibly proud to have been part of their journey.

Perhaps the most powerful part of this success is what happened before the tournament. Due to circumstances beyond their control, the team had no competitive game fixtures all season. Despite this, they attended training every week, worked with purpose, and never questioned the value of the process. They demonstrated resilience, perseverance, teamwork, and determination long before stepping onto the court. Arriving at the tournament without match experience, they performed like a far more seasoned team — competing with composure, working tirelessly for one another, and overcoming some excellent opposition to bring home the first recorded JV Girls Basketball trophy in BVIS history (as far as our records show.
Congratulations to every player involved. You are leading the way through your values, effort, attitude, and energy, and you are setting a powerful example for the girls who will follow you. Whilst the trophy is a wonderful accolade and no less than you deserve, you have achieved something much more important in the standards you are setting for us all!
Go Dragons!
