Dear Families
A big thank you to everyone who attended the TET Fair on Sunday, it was a great event and much fun had by everyone.

I am currently in the UK recruiting teachers for next year. On Saturday, I had the immense pleasure of hosting our very first UK student Alumni reunion event in London.

Following feedback in recent years, I am delighted to announce that we are launching our very first senior student summer school. This will be a two week course being run by teaching staff here at BVIS.

A reminder that our regular summer school for younger students is also running this year and you can sign up using the details below:

I wish you all a very relaxing weekend ahead.

The children in EYFS are continuing to develop their skills as artists. They are becoming increasingly independent learners, confidently self-selecting paints to explore and enjoy colour mixing.

Years 1 and 2 took part in a bánh chưng making activity and learned about Vietnamese culture.

Students demonstrated great creativity and teamwork as they collaborated to build models of cacao trees using different materials. By applying their knowledge of the cacao plant and using effective communication skills, they supported one another throughout the process.

In Vietnamese, Year 4 students explored a range of poems centred on the theme of Tết. Through reading and discussion, they shared their thoughts and feelings about the joy of the spring festival. Working collaboratively, the students then created their own Tết poems. This activity helped to nurture creativity, develop language skills, and foster a love of poetry.

The Year 5 Show focused on Caring, one of our core values. Through performances and the role-play Friendship Bench, students shared messages about caring for family, friends, and others.
Thank you to our parents for their wonderful support and participation. The parent and child performances were truly moving. Congratulations to all Year 5 students on a confident and inspiring show!

In the Vietnamese Humanities lesson, the Y6 students learned how to make the traditional pickled vegetables from the Middle region of Vietnam.

The countries at war signed the Armistice – an agreement to stop fighting – at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month and we remember those killed in that war and other conflicts since in a two-minute silence at that time each year. For a long time, the contribution made by people from other parts of the globe was not very well known or well researched and so these have sometimes been called the “Forgotten Armies”.
Senarya wrote a poem to reflect these forgotten armies with a focus on the Ottoman in which she was praised by The Western Association.

This week we tested the perseverance of our students and gave Year 10 a taste of mentorship as they support KS3 through a series of challenges and puzzles.

Last Friday, students in Year 9 completed a PSHE workshop. Working collaboratively in groups, they focused on topics such as Personal Organisation and Managing Stress and Pressure. All students engaged fantastically well in activities which were designed to support student wellbeing and their transition to KS4.

Y11 IGCSE students practiced their experimental techniques by carrying out two important experiments: titration and chromatography. They followed the steps, discussed them, and obtained the expected results. The students also had the opportunity to practice past paper questions, which helped them revise in line with the Cambridge scheme.
