Dear Families
As you know we are a school of outcomes. I was delighted to see in the recent parent satisfaction survey that when questioned parents reported that over 65% of the categories they were questioned about had improved since last year. Many of them already had very high satisfaction.
A big thank you to all the parents who attended my termly Principal update meetings this week. It was great to see everyone and as ever I learnt a lot from you and we will put into action some of your ideas and thoughts. Thank you.

As well as the normal summer school that we run each year, for the first time we are also running a senior student summer school and we hope many students will sign up. This is open to BVIS students and all students in Hanoi.

I wish you all a very relaxing weekend ahead.

The EYFS children enjoyed a fun-filled morning of sports, showcasing a range of their gross motor skills.

In Vietnamese lessons, Year 1 students are developing their ability to understand and communicate clear instructions. They can sequence steps accurately, use appropriate time connectives to explain a process, and demonstrate understanding of key action words by identifying and performing them confidently.

The students are brainstorming together and dividing tasks to create adorable mini birdhouses in IPC lesson.

Students demonstrated their understanding of cocoa through practical, hands-on activities, creating cocoa smoothies and biscuits. They explored ingredients using their senses, followed processes independently, and reflected on their learning—ending the session engaged, confident, and proud of their creations.

Year 4 students analysed how seed shape affects fall time through comparative investigation and applied their understanding by creating stop-motion animations to clearly explain plant life cycles, reproduction, and seed dispersal.

In their Vietnamese lesson, Year 5 students brought the story “King An Duong Vuong and the Co Loa Citadel” to life through a creative drama performance. They confidently took on roles, created their own dialogue, and expressed characters with vivid emotions.

Students analysed rhyme schemes and developed their ability to create effective rhymes by focusing on middle and end sounds. They applied this understanding through exploring a range of poetic styles and confidently identifying and explaining different rhyme patterns.

Students from our school recently participated in the UNNIS MUN Conference, held from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 March at the United Nations International School of Hanoi. Su Hong Minh (11i), Nguyen Hoang Van (9i), Nguyen Minh Ha (9i), and Tran Minh Quan (9v) attended the conference, joining over 200 students from 22 schools, including international delegations from South Africa and Fiji.
As all four students were new to Model United Nations, they initially felt a little nervous; however, over the course of the conference they grew in confidence, actively contributing to debates and discussions within their committees.
The event began with a series of inspiring keynote speakers working in international relations, helping students better understand the real-world importance of diplomacy and global cooperation. It was wonderful to see our students challenge themselves, develop their public speaking skills, and represent the school so positively.

Last week our Year 13 students had their formal Graduation portraits taken and on Saturday they took part in a photoshoot at school and at the Citadel. This has allowed special and memorable moments to be captured for our students in advice of their Graduation in June.

This week we have been carrying out a Validated Self-Evaluation (VSE) of our English First Language Department. This involved a team spending two days observing lessons and leading student focus groups with an aim to identify key strengths and areas for development.
An important part of this process was the involvement of students. Lesson observations and focus groups were carried out by a senior member of staff and a Y12 student. A huge thank you to Khanh Chi, Doanh Anh and Huong Giang for participating in this, as they provided extremely valuable insights and views.
Our fantastic Y10 students have been investigating the Rate of photosynthesis.

This week, Year 7 and 8 students explored different computer components, including the processor, RAM, and storage, as well as learning about operating systems. Meanwhile, Year 9 students were busy constructing and understanding logic gates.
