Dear Families
Last weekend, BVIS hosted a city-wide chess competition run and hosted by our students. Well done to everyone involved.

University offers continue to pour in for our students and I am pleased to see so many offers already on the table to some amazing university and colleges across the world.

It is that time of year when the school starts to run various sports days for our younger students. We have already seen an incredible EYFS and Y3/4 sports day events in the last two weeks. Well done everyone involved.

Just a final reminder about our Book Bazaar tomorrow starting from 9.00 to 12.00 tomorrow morning. We hope many of you will join this great event.

Students demonstrated a clear understanding of trip safety, independently applying key behaviours such as calm boarding, correct seating, and using seatbelts.

Students applied their knowledge of adventure story structure to plan and develop imaginative and coherent story ideas.

Students identified key features of effective branding and applied persuasive language, including superlatives, to create engaging and convincing writing.

Students developed independent research skills, explaining key issues in rhino conservation and communicating their understanding through a planned video project.

Students collaborated effectively to design and create Greek God costumes using upcycled materials, demonstrating creativity and problem-solving.

Students identified features of traditional Vietnamese clothing and explained how they reflect the diversity of ethnic cultures.

On Tuesday 31 March 2026 we were very fortunate to have UC Riverside's, Assistant Provost of International Recruitment, Mr Jun Wang and Recruitment Specialist Ms Vivian Vo in our school to help parents and students find their way through the application process.
This presentation was specifically for BVIS students with their A Level qualifications. Mr Wang and Ms Vo gave a clear and in-depth explanation of how A-Levels are a great qualification for applications as they can often accrue credits for the Universities (subject to grades attained and courses applied to).

On Saturday 27th March over 50 students from schools across Hanoi were welcomed to BVIS to participate in the first BVIS hanoi Inter-School Chess Competition. The event was organised and led by year 12 students Nam Khanh, Lam, Bao Nam and Nhat Anh. This was a really fantastic event which gave students the opportunity to participate in a challenging and stimulating competition.

On Friday 3rd April we held a special presentation assembly to recognise the achievements of our hardworking, committed, and talented students. We were thrilled to present the following awards:
This year, the Y12 Further Maths group have been working hard to complete a 2-year course in 9 months. This has involved fast paced lessons and lots of independent consolidation and practice at home. Now we are revising and preparing for the final exams in 1 month. Active learning and revision is so important in this time to reinforce key ideas, understand mark schemes and discuss where common errors can occur. Today students worked in pairs on a carousel of ‘hard’ questions in timed conditions. Students rotated around the room, marking the previous pair’s work and looking at ways the solution could be improved for more marks. Getting up and moving around the room every few minutes kept energy levels high for a double lesson.

Learning Mathematics is easier when students can investigate new ideas by working in groups and testing theories. This week in Y9 Mathematics, students have been learning about proportion. Rather than learning from written examples, they carried out an investigation to look at the time it takes to complete a task and how it decreases when more people share the same work. This helped students to understand the concept of inverse proportion. It was a fun lesson, building shapes against a timer, recording results, and interpreting them.
