F2 students became dinosaur explorers during their exciting field trip. Through investigating fossils and habitats, they developed curiosity, observation skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

In Vietnamese, Year 1 students explored Handa’s Surprise through engaging role-play activities. Using story maps, they retold the story with actions, expression, and narration before taking on different character roles. The activity strengthened speaking and communication skills while building confidence, creativity, and understanding of key events and characters.

Year 2 students continued learning the story Sally the Pirate Princess by using actions to help remember each part of the story. They showed growing confidence when retelling the story together and have now begun creating their own story maps to represent the key events. This supported sequencing, storytelling, and creative thinking skills.

Year 3 students explored the significance of the River Nile and its importance to Ancient Egyptian civilisation. They learned how the river provided water, food, transport, and fertile land for farming, helping communities thrive. The lesson developed historical understanding while encouraging curiosity about how geography shaped early civilisations.

In IPC, students worked collaboratively to research volcanoes using books, videos, and note-taking strategies to gather information. Through this enquiry-based learning, they developed research, collaboration, and critical thinking skills while building a deeper understanding of natural phenomena.

Year 5 students welcomed visitors from Nhân Chính School for hearing-impaired students in Hanoi for a meaningful day of shared learning and friendship. Together, the children participated in sign language songs, sports, team games, origami, and creative activities linked to their Human Body topic. The experience helped students develop empathy, respect, and appreciation for others, while building genuine connections and lasting memories.

Year 6 students took part in a clear and supportive transition assembly led by staff and secondary teachers. The session gave students the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and learn more about the next stage of their learning journey, helping to build confidence and readiness for transition.

This week we were treated to 2 performances of Alice in Wonderland. We are so proud that so many students were keen to be involved, that we had two full casts, each performing on a different night! This is a true reflection of the enthusiasm and passion for performing Arts at BVIS. Both performances were wonderful showcases of student talent, creativity, and dedication. From the imaginative costumes and set design to the confident performances on stage, our students captivated the audience and brought the magical world of Wonderland to life.

During Floating Village project, Year 9 students designed a green shading where they cleared out weed, made space, and built rubber chairs so people of the village can rest and enjoy some shade during summer. The group also installed sustainable, 4 solar lights on the village walkway to give people here safter walk during the night. These practical initiatives not only improve the daily living conditions and safety for families living in the floating village but also allow the students to apply real-world engineering and environmental science skills to directly support a vulnerable community.

Year 8 students have been visiting the Old Quarter this week to carry out a geographical fieldwork investigation into the impacts of tourism in the area. Students have been collecting data on land use, tourist behaviour, questionnaires, and field sketches. Students demonstrated many of the school values of perseverance, respect, and enquiry throughout the day. The trip was an opportunity to participate in geography outside of the classroom and apply knowledge they have acquired in school in real contexts.
Following on from this data collection, students will now be analyzing their data, evaluating their fieldwork processes and writing conclusions on the question ‘what are the impacts of tourism?’

Fieldwork allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world environments, developing essential skills such as data collection, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving. These experiences not only enhance academic learning but also build independence, resilience, and adaptability—qualities highly valued in higher education and a wide range of future careers.
After sitting their full A Level Mathematics exams, the Y12 Further Mathematics group are beginning their second course – A Level Further Maths. Beyond formulas, students develop vital life skills: logical reasoning, resilience when tackling complex puzzles, and analytical thinking. These skills empower students to break down complicated real-world problems into manageable parts. Highly valued by top universities, this course builds the intellectual discipline and confidence needed to succeed in any demanding career. It is the ultimate foundation for mastering advanced mathematical thinking and life-long problem-solving.

Our Y8 students have been developing their Scientific Skills by carrying out an investigation into pendulums.

Ice skating is a really popular ECA. Each week students develop their skating skills and have fun with their friends on the ice!
