Accelerated learning at BVIS Hanoi is not simply about completing content earlier.

The pathway is structured so that students first build a strong foundation in A Level Mathematics before moving into the greater depth and complexity of Further Mathematics.

By completing A Level Mathematics in Year 12, students are able to dedicate Year 13 to Further Mathematics, where they engage with more advanced mathematical concepts and develop the analytical thinking, independence and problem-solving skills required for highly quantitative university pathways.

The pace is faster, but the learning remains carefully structured. Students receive regular feedback, close academic guidance and the right level of challenge at each stage.

Strong Cohort Results, Year After Year

The strength of the pathway is seen not only in individual achievement, but in consistently strong outcomes across the cohort.

Last year, 100% of Year 12 students following the Further Mathematics pathway achieved A*–A in A Level Mathematics one year early.

Among them, Quang Lam achieved a perfect score of 250/250 across all examination papers and was subsequently recognised by Cambridge International as Top in the World for A Level Mathematics.

This year, that strong foundation has continued into Further Mathematics, with 82% achieving A*–A and 100% achieving A*–B.

These results show clear progression from one stage to the next. Strong outcomes are not isolated to a single year; they are built through consistent learning, close progress tracking and expert teaching over time.

Further Mathematics is designed for students who are ready to engage with greater academic challenge.

The course develops understanding across advanced areas of Mathematics and strengthens skills that are highly valued beyond the classroom, including logical thinking, independent study, problem-solving and resilience.

Students also have opportunities to extend their learning through experiences such as the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and Maths Ambassador roles.

This combination of academic challenge and enrichment helps students build both the knowledge and confidence to take the next step.

From Strong Grades To Stronger Options

At many leading universities, particularly for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, Mathematics and Further Mathematics are highly valued for the logical thinking, analytical skills and problem-solving abilities they help develop. At some universities, A Level Mathematics and A Level Further Mathematics may also be considered for course credit or advanced placement from the first year of study.

For the Class of 2026, this strong foundation has supported offers in fields such as Mechanical Engineering at UCL and the University of Bristol, Engineering at Purdue University and Boston University, Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Economics and Mathematics at Emory University, and Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington.

For international students considering the US, STEM degrees can also offer additional career opportunities through the STEM Optional Practical Training (STEM OPT) extension, which may allow eligible graduates to remain in the US for a longer period of post-study employment.
