Dear Families

Firstly, I would like to congratulate the football team of Vietnam for their outstanding win in the final of the ASEAN championship tournament, congratulations.

Our graduates of 2026 are continuing to secure their final university places and we are excited to see so many of them getting ready to attend some of the top colleges and universities across the world.

Today I had the pleasure of attending the Primary and Secondary Independence Day assemblies. They were fantastic and enjoyed by all.

The week after the holiday I shall be hosting a couple of events to outline the Year 9 and Year 11 IGCSE and A Level options process. Please see details below:

Moving, Creating and Exploring

Our Early Years children have been learning through movement, creativity and hands-on experiences. With specialist PE teacher Mr Angel and Performing Arts teacher Ms Alice, they have been developing body control, exploring different ways to move and building confidence through performance.

In STEAM, the children have been developing practical skills, including using scissors safely and with control, while exploring a range of creative arts and crafts activities.

Learning Through Play

Year 1 and Year 2 came together for an exciting IPC Entry Point for A Day in the Life. Through fun, job-themed stations, the children explored different roles, shared ideas and worked collaboratively as they began their new unit.

Hooray! Let’s Go on Holiday!

Year 1 and Year 2 also stepped into holiday mode for their IPC Entry Point, Hooray! Let’s Go on Holiday. The children travelled through five exciting activities: a splash corner, summer fashion show, passport and travel activities, a summer juice shop and sandcastle building.

Through these hands-on experiences, they developed their imagination, communication, and collaboration skills while exploring what makes a holiday special.

Creativity Takes Centre Stage

Working collaboratively, the Year 3 children shared ideas, developed their own performances and brought them to life. Each group confidently presented their piece to the class, demonstrating creativity, teamwork and growing confidence.

Following the Trail to Gold

Year 4 explored the story How to Find Gold as part of their English Creative Hook. Inspired by the story, they designed and created their own treasure maps, bringing their ideas to life through creativity and storytelling.

Starting the Day with Energy

Year 5 are making movement part of their morning routine! Beginning the day with a burst of exercise helps the children feel energised, focused and ready to learn. It has been fantastic to see them arrive with such enthusiasm and motivation.

Solving Real-World Problems

Year 6 tackled an exciting IPC Entry Point by becoming problem-solvers and designers. Given real-world challenges and specific constraints, the children worked in teams to develop solutions and create prototypes.

They demonstrated creativity, critical thinking and collaboration as they turned their ideas into possible solutions.  

Celebrating Independence Day

September 2, 2026 marks the 81st anniversary of the historic moment when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This is a sacred milestone of profound significance to every Vietnamese person and an occasion for us to remember, honor, and take pride in the glorious journey of nation-building and national defense undertaken by generations of our forefathers.

In keeping with the solemn and meaningful spirit of this occasion, the Secondary School at BVIS held a ceremony commemorating the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, an annual event of great significance to the school community. Through the programme, students gained a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s national history, while nurturing their patriotism and pride in the nation’s rich and heroic traditions.

Spotlight on our new University Guidance Counsellor

We are delighted to welcome our new University Guidance Counsellor (UGC) Ms Ly (Lily) Tran. She has settled in fantastically well to BVIS and brings with her a wealth of experience of supporting students with applications to the top Universities.

She will be hosting 2 Coffee Mornings next month

Introducing - 'Graduation with Distinction'

This year we are delighted to introduce our new 'Graduation with Distincion' for all students in Years 12 and 13. Students who have maintained excellent attendance and punctuality and also developed themselves by excelling in wider opportunities will be recognised by graduating with distinction. This was explained to students at an assembly this week, and students will start to collate a portfolio of evidence towards this achievement.

Y7 Maths

This week in Year 7 Maths Skills, students have been working on Place Value problem solving activities. Students are learning to work in teams, to divide up the tasks, and follow the instructions clearly to crack the code. Great teamwork by 7V!
