Dear Families

Today the school came to life with the moon festival celebrations. Well done to everyone involved across the school.

Thank you to all those that attended to student art auction on Saturday. It was great fun and the students made a good amount of money for their projects. Well done to all the students involved and thank you to everyone who made a bid for a painting.

🌱 EY – Growing Through Challenge

Our unexpected learning-from-home day showed how resilient and persistent our EYFS children and staff can be. We are learning to say, “I can’t do it… yet!” and develop a positive growth mindset.

🏮 Y1 – Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival

Year 1 enjoyed celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival by making colourful lanterns, lion dance heads and traditional bánh dẻo. It was wonderful to see their creativity and excitement as they explored these Vietnamese traditions.

🎨 Y2 – Seven Wonders in Art

Year 2 have been developing their observational drawing skills by sketching the Seven Wonders of the World. They are now using lines and shading to bring their artwork to life.

💬 Y3 – Learning Through Dialogue

Year 3 created dialogues using pictures, actions and sounds, helping them develop new language in a fun and natural way. Their confidence and creativity really shone through!

🏔️ Year 4 – Preparing for Everest

Year 4 explored the challenges of climbing Mount Everest before imagining their own expedition. They created packing lists of the essential equipment needed to survive and succeed on the mountain.

🏞️ Year 5 – Investigating Rivers

Year 5 completed river models using recycled plastic bottles. They tested different river channels, measured water flow and collected real data. Next, they will analyse their results and identify patterns.

🏭 Year 6 – Life in the Industrial Revolution

Year 6 experienced factory life by working in production lines without chairs, lights or air conditioning. They then considered whether the inventions of the Industrial Revolution have been mostly positive or negative for our world today.

Mid - Autumn Festival Assembly

“Rộn ràng ánh trăng” was an exceptional Mid-Autumn programme held at BVIS Hanoi, where students immersed themselves in a traditional festive atmosphere rich in national heritage. The event offered a journey to discover the beauty of the Mid-Autumn Festival through spectacular singing and dancing performances filled with traditional folk melodies. Furthermore, the programme featured engaging interactive games that challenged the students' knowledge and helped them explore the origins, customs, and familiar symbols of the Mid-Autumn Festival, both past and present. The event served as a bridge, bringing the beauty of traditional culture closer to our students – the nation's younger generation. Ultimately, the Mid-Autumn moon did not just shine brightly in the sky; it also radiated within the hearts of every BVIS Hanoi student.

House Captains

We are delighted to announce the appointment of our new House Captains and Vice-Captains for our four Houses – Hue, Hanoi, Dalat and Saigon. These student leaders will play an important role in building House spirit, encouraging participation and helping to lead a range of fun and exciting House events throughout the year. We look forward to seeing them inspire their fellow students and make this year’s House competitions more memorable than ever!

Y7 Maths Skills

This week, 7V learnt about the connection between Maths and Art and a famous artist Wassily Kandinsky who used mathematical shapes to create his masterpieces. Students used rulers, protractors and compasses to create their own inspired artwork.

Y9 FOBISIA Code Breaking Competition

Our Year 9 students recently put their problem-solving, logical thinking and teamwork skills to the test as they took part in the FOBISIA Code Breaking Competition. It was fantastic to see them embracing the challenge, working collaboratively and demonstrating curiosity, perseverance and creativity as they tackled complex codes and puzzles.

Duke of Edinburgh: Emergency Procedures Training

As part of their Duke of Edinburgh preparation, students took part in an emergency procedures session in their ECA. Each student was given a realistic expedition scenario and had to decide what actions should be taken and in what order.
Students then explained the reasons behind their decisions, helping them develop their problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making skills. The activity provided valuable experience and ensured students are better prepared to respond safely and effectively during future expeditions.
