We are proud of our chess team for representing Champittet in Nord Anglia Education’s first ever Global Campus world chess competition!
This initiative invites teams of students from Nord Anglia Education schools around the world to challenge each other in online chess battles. Competing is an excellent way for young chess enthusiasts to test and improve their skills, with help from world-class experts. The competition is led by Nick Thomas, an International Chess Federation (FIDE) Master (among the top chess players in the world), and Alex Holowczak, an International Arbiter (title awarded by FIDE).
We are delighted to share that the chess team at Collège Champittet placed in the top 10 out of 23 teams in the Eastern hemisphere. With 38 points, our team arrived in ninth place. In addition, our highest-scoring player placed 25th out of 230 student participants.
We wish to congratulate our highest-scoring students Alexantr (11 points), Viktor (10 points), Mykola (9 points) and, tied at 8 points, Uma and Martin. Well done!
Only the top five teams in each hemisphere and the top six individual players will continue to the Team and Individual Finals, so our players will have to wait until next year to re-join the battle. Nevertheless, we are very proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them continue to pursue this stimulating passion!
By learning to plan their time wisely, students can be more productive, develop great study habits, and create a balanced lifestyle – one that fosters both personal and academic growth. Mastering this essential skill also sets them up for future success.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Here at Champittet, we know that inspiring children to dream big while envisioning their future is a core part of education. It’s also the focus of Dare All Trades Day, or JOM (Journée Oser tous les Métiers).
