There’s nothing like some invigorating outdoor activity to enjoy the brisk air of winter! Ski season is here, along with the rest of our wonderful programme of winter sports.
Of course, in Switzerland, skiing is not only a great form of exercise, but also a fundamental part of Alpine culture. For this reason, we encourage all our students to put on their ski boots and take to the slopes! Learning to ski is a wonderful way to master new skills and build confidence.
We are delighted to offer various ski outings as part of our extracurricular activities calendar. Every Wednesday, three teachers accompany the students enrolled in our ski workshop to Champéry, in Portes du Soleil, a major destination for ski sports in the Alps. Our Nyon students (Grade 4 and up) can hone their snow skills at Col de la Givrine and La Cure, while Pully students (Grades 6 to 12) can hit the slopes at Portes du Soleil with our sports teacher. These beloved outings always include warm-ups, ski descents and, of course, snowball fights!
For our boarders, every weekend offers the opportunity to explore new destinations while enjoying outdoor adventures at the region’s top ski resorts, such as Portes du Soleil, Verbier, Zermatt and Crans-Montana.
Winter is also the perfect time to explore other seasonal sports, such as skating, ice hockey and (for our Grade 1 students) sledging. In sports classes and after school, we are making the most of the snowy season. And with the nearby open-air ice rink at Montchoisi, there’s no limit to our frosty adventures. Let the winter fun begin!
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Here at Champittet, we know that inspiring children to dream big while envisioning their future is a core part of education. It’s also the focus of Dare All Trades Day, or JOM (Journée Oser tous les Métiers).
The Winter Ball is an eagerly awaited annual tradition here at Champittet, but this year brought a twist: the school’s first ever Masquerade Ball. With the theme “Black and Gold, don’t forget your mask!”, this year’s winter dance was organised by 14th-grade IB students, and the event was open to students in grades 9 and 10.
Who says summer is far away? Registration is now open for the Champittet Leadership Camp!
