Be hungry for life, be kind to others

Message du directeur - Message du directeur

Dear Champiteans,

With his permission, I would like to share some insights from a Champittet dad, INSEAD Professor Horacio Falcao, during his recent Graduation Ceremony speech. Here is a summary his message to our 14th Grade students:

You will be rich!

Statistically speaking, you have more chances to succeed than most on this planet. You survived one of the best and toughest school in the world: the Maturité, the IB or the French bac were not exactly designed for mercy.

You will travel more than Marco Polo in a lifetime and will have far more opportunities than most.

But will you be meaningful? Will you matter?

Life has clever way to confuse wealth and meaning in our minds. But the world does not belong to the people who get the best grades or make the most money.

It belongs to the people who keep showing up, who keep learning, who stay in the fight. To lead, we must commit to something beyond ourselves, we must step into the arena and stay in it.

When we fail, we feel the pain, we are exposed, but we are alive. Courage begins when we decide to show up honestly despite the fear of failing.

Some will look for prestige and become excellent at things that do not matter. We need to build enough strength, enough freedom and enough courage to be useful.

Meaning is built day by day, Above all: be hungry for life, be kind to others.
