The Global Campus highlights for Secondary School in Term 3 will be the various globetrotting adventures and learning experiences, with several excited Secondary School students — Year 5 all the way up to Y10 — diligently preparing for their journeys.
These include the UNICEF Global Goals Summit in New York, an alpine adventure in Les Martinets, Switzerland and the STEAMfest taking place in Boston this week. To all of these students we wish safe travels, happy adventures and we can’t wait to hear about your extended learning.
We are also patiently waiting for the final decision of the Visual Arts competition that will be made on the 4th of May.
Les Martinets – 6 weeks to go – Going Uphill
The training with our 7 students for the Les Martinets hike continues. This week training focused on going uphill with more stair climbing and some students achieving a personal best for the number of floors ascended. Well done for your hard work. Not only do we train ourselves physically but we are also planning and preparing our equipment and proper clothing for the trip. This week we researched all about Switzerland – did you know that it is 10,340km away?

GLOBAL CAMPUS NEWS
We are showcasing the incredible things our students are doing through the Global Campus programme! In the coming weeks we will share a series of articles, mini blogs and news reports that reflect our status as a Global Campus, which enhances and extends students' learning through a programme of learning activities. If you would like further information please contact our Global Campus representative Mr. Jack Odey.
GLOBAL CHALLENGE
The Dover Court Global Challenge has been submitted. Thank you to everyone who took part and those who are tweeting about their work with the Global Challenge. Find out more by searching the tag #NAEUNICEF
GLOBAL LIBRARY
Students from Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong have challenged the Global Campus to create a superhero to represent their city and help the world reach the UN Global Goals. Students need to draw and describe a superhero of their own, scan it, and upload it to the Padlet on the “My Brother is a Superhero” page on the Global Library section of GC Online. The closing date is 2nd of May and winners will receive a signed copy of one of David Solomon’s books.
MIT – NORD ANGLIA STEAMfest
The MIT - Nord Anglia STEAMfest trip is from 30 April – 6 May 2017. Four lucky students from DCIS are now in Boston, sharing this amazing experience with over 80 other students from NAE campuses around the world. The STEAMfest trip area on Global Campus is now live and our students are using this space to meet others going on the trip, get important information, and partake in pre-trip activities.
PASSPORT
All Primary School new joiners in Year 4 and above should be receiving their Global Campus Passports. We are in the process of setting up their online login details which will be sent to parents in due course.
STUDENT SKILLS SURVEY
Thank you to Gareth Kinsella who ran the Student Skills Survey with some of our students to help with a research project.
WORLD LANGUAGES CHALLENGE
Thank you to the Mandarin teachers who are involved with the World Languages Challenge. They will be showcasing children’s work on the padlet and we are in the process of finding a link with another school.
Have a great week all. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any queries you may have, and keep in contact! We love to see and hear what you have been up to with the Global Campus.
Many thanks,
