SINGAPORE AND BEYOND

EDUCATIONAL TRIPS AND EXPEDITIONS

Some of the most powerful moments in a child's education happen far from a desk. Beginning in the earliest years, our trips explore Singapore's museums, gardens, theatres and coastlines, before setting off on adventures across Southeast Asia and beyond.

EXPERIENCES THAT LAST A LIFETIME

School trips are a vital part of our curriculum, enabling children of all ages to transfer learning into contexts outside of the classroom. Every experience is chosen to challenge, surprise and deepen learning in ways no classroom can replicate — building confidence, curiosity and connection along the way.

Whether that's snorkelling off the coast of Tioman Island, trekking through the jungles of Borneo, or representing the school at a FOBISIA sports competition in Bangkok, our trips and expeditions programme has something for every student.

PRIMARY TRIPS AND EXPEDITIONS

From the earliest years, children explore Singapore through regular day trips built into the curriculum. Each trip brings classroom learning to life, whether that’s a morning spent beach cleaning at East Coast Park, an afternoon at Singapore Science Centre, or a visit to a local theatre.

For many of our Year 3 students, our annual school sleepover is their first taste of independence. On our two-day Oceanarium experience, students explore marine life up close, take part in hands-on workshops, and spend a night at school before a second day with Orca Nation, an organisation dedicated to ocean conservation and environmental education.

From Year 4, residential trips go further afield, taking students into Malaysia for their first adventure away from home.

SECONDARY TRIPS AND EXPEDITIONS

Our secondary students travel far and wide. Residentials take students to some of Southeast Asia's most remarkable destinations, from the ancient temples and vibrant street life of Yogyakarta in Indonesia, to the rainforests and rivers of Kanchanaburi in Thailand, to the extraordinary biodiversity of Borneo. Our Dover Divers club takes students beneath the surface, with trips to Rawa Island among the highlights.

Through the Nord Anglia Global Campus programme, our most ambitious students go even further: a week at MIT in Boston, a student Leadership Summit in Houston, or the NAE Games in Phnom Penh. Each one is a chance to meet, compete and collaborate with Nord Anglia students from across the world.

Testimonials

The Dover Court residential trips have been such great experiences for my boys. In the lead‑up, there’s always a mix of excitement and nerves; learning to pack their own bags, organise themselves, and step a little outside their comfort zone. When they return, the change is obvious. They’re more confident, independent and full of stories.

My son gains so much from these experiences. It is so positive for him to be independent, to test his resilience and develop new skills in the physical, social and emotional domains. We really appreciate the sacrifice of personal time and the commitment shown by his teachers who support him on his residential trips.

My favourite activity was jetty jumping when we jumped from a high pier into the sea. It was a new experience and really exciting. Other activities I enjoyed were kayaking and raft building. It was amazing to row past a real ship wreck and working with my team to build the raft was really fun.

My daughter has been on a Yr 7 residential and joined Yr 8 for FOBISIA. Both occasions were incredibly well run, with great communication back to parents. We were very impressed with the steps taken to ensure reassurance and safety towards the children, whilst balancing it with the opportunity to have fun, learn so much about themselves and their environment and experience the ‘adventure’ of each trip.

I liked snorkelling as I saw a parrotfish and a lot of sea cucumbers. I also enjoyed the kayaking since we got to see a shipwreck and learnt how to recover the kayak after a capsize.

YEAR 9 AND ABOVE

DUKE OF EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL AWARD

Dover Court is one of only a handful of schools in Singapore to offer both the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh International Award, and from next year, we'll be among the first to offer Gold.

Working towards their Bronze award, our Year 9 students journey to Pulau Ubin, Singapore's last kampung island, where they take to the water on stand-up paddleboards and enjoy camping in the wilderness. The Silver expedition takes students further with an eight-day expedition to Kanchanaburi in Thailand, a more demanding journey through one of the region's most historically rich landscapes.

The DofE award is internationally recognised and entirely student-led. Young people set their own goals, track their own progress and earn their award through genuine effort and commitment.

Secondary students compete across a range of sports, from the FOBISIA Sports Games in Bangkok and the NAE Games in Phnom Penh, to the annual U14 and U16 Girls Touch Rugby Tournament in Malaysia.
