Simon Mann, Dover Court's incoming interim principal looks forward to the start of the 2020-2021 academic year.
I, like many of you, have just arrived in Singapore - in fact I landed late last night. I am now beginning the experience of a quarantine for the first time, in some ways similar to my lockdown experience in New Zealand and in some ways very different. However, I think I can speak on behalf of all new staff, the team at Dover Court have been amazing in supporting this very peculiar start to a new school and a new year. This is now my fourth move as a headteacher and certainly my most memorable! Preparations have had to be all the more precise and the needs of those arriving in Singapore are just that bit more complex but the experience so far has been faultless.
I will be meeting with our new staff this evening at our virtual welcome social, judging by the feedback I have seen, their experience has been just as positive. I will be extending my welcome to them on behalf of the community. Soon we will be welcoming our new families, many of whom will also be starting their time in quarantine.
We are very aware that the last few months have been extraordinary in so many ways and we will be taking this into account as we begin the academic year. Along with all of the new and returning staff and families I now can’t wait to get into the new academic year and I look forward to working with such a tight and positive community. See you soon!
