IB PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME

Our Primary students thrive through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). The IB PYP is a thematic, transdisciplinary global curriculum that nurtures holistic growth, develops core literacy, numeracy, and social skills, and inspires a lifelong love of learning.

OUR IB PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME

At Etqan Global Academy, our 6 to 10-year-olds follow the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

The PYP is an inquiry-based curriculum that develops caring, curious, reflective, and open-minded global learners. Through immersive topics that transcend disciplines, our students gain an understanding of how different subjects relate to each other and their communities. Our PYP also focuses on Islamic studies and Arabic language learning, developing our learners’ sense of national identity.

THE IB PYP TRANSCISIPLINARY THEMES

The PYP is organised into six transdisciplinary themes. These themes develop knowledge across the sciences, arts, maths, languages, social studies, and more.

HOW WE STRUCTURE LEARNING

THE IB PYP UNITS OF INQUIRY

The six transdisciplinary themes are taught through cross-curricular modules of study known as units of inquiry. Every year, each age group follows one unit of inquiry under each theme. The units allow for in-depth investigations into important ideas, identified by our teachers, and include a high level of student involvement.

THE IB CONTINUUM AT ETQAN

From the age of 3 to 15, every student’s academic journey at Etqan is underpinned by the continuum of International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. This provides consistency and guarantees the highest standards throughout your child’s education.

As well as being academically challenging, the IB continuum focuses on the all-round development of each student. Each programme, at every stage, is packed with character-forming experiences that develop core values, skills, and IB Learner Profile traits.
