On Tuesday 17th June 2014 Music Department, led by Ms Dulcie Price, organised another amazing Summer Concert.
This is a concert to showcase the huge amount of musical talent that we have at BISB and will also include a range of poetry and readings. It is a lovely opportunity for students and parents to come together in a celebration of the summer season; Musical performances include the Secondary School Choir, Orchestra and a wide range of talented soloists.
The concert is held in the beautiful Kostol Klarisiek which is a disused Church now designated as a concert venue. The acoustics are perfect for singing and playing, and help to enhance the atmosphere of the evening.
The Summer Concert includes a range of pieces from various nationalities and cultures and often includes singing and poetry in a range of languages. This means that everyone performing in the concert feels a deep personal conncetion to the music which they perform and hear. Everyone is always very proud when the music of their own nationality is performed and there is a strong sense of teamwork between the performers.
One of the most wonderful things about the Summer Concert is the range of students who are involved. Every nationality and age group from Secondary participates and it is a great opportunity for students to make new and lasting friendships, many of which last for years to come.
What better way to end the year and say goodbye to friends who are moving onwards, than through the power of music. In the words Gustav Mahler;
“ If a composer could say what he had to say in words, he would not bother trying to say it in music.‘‘
