The Great Debate
The Debate Teams enjoyed a visit from Mr Farthing last week who came to talk to them about the benefits of debating and all the valuable skills which can be gleaned from it. Thank you Mr Farthing.
The second round of the Debate League finished last week. Well done to all our students who participated.
The results (scores and league positions) will be available on the Global Classroom along with individual team feedback as well as scores on show.
Creative Writing Competition 2015
The annual creative writing competition has launched on the Global Classroom. This year's topic is 'Somewhere Unforgettable'. Years 3-6 should be participating in this project in class but you can always get a head start by doing some research using the resources on the Global Classroom. The entries should focus on a description of a place. Perhaps including something that happened there, or someone you met, but the emphasis should be on creating a picture of your unforgettable place in the reader's mind. The place can be real or fictional, it can be somewhere you've been or perhaps somewhere you've always wanted to go.
The Book Club
The book currently being read in the GC Book Club is Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. If you want to read the book and participate in the online debate there are limited numbers of the books available to borrow from Miss Jardine.
Thank you to all the parents who attended the information session on Tuesday morning. It was lovely to see so many parents who were interested in supporting their children in the global pursuits! We are building the Global Classroom into more of our curriculum in school, where appropriate, but it is great to know they can also get support from home. Remember, there is a Global Classroom club every second Wednesday for the children to participate.
