Year 7 German: Trip to Vienna

16 December 2015

Last Thursday, December 10th, our Year 7 German students used the opportunity to visit Vienna, the capital of Austria. The weather was fantastic and supported our fully packed programme.
After a brief tour through the Christmas ‘Hofburg’ we visited the Vienna Time Travel Museum. It was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history and traditions of Vienna. The highlight of the museum was the 5D cinema where we could travel in time and visit places like the ‘Stefansdom’ or the medieval streets during the plague, and experience them from the perspective of a rat! An audience with the Habsburgs and a carriage ride through Vienna made the impression even stronger.

With our current focus on the topic of food, we couldn’t leave Vienna without tasting the typical Schnitzel and Apfelstrudel in the Wienerwald restaurant.
The day ended at the Christmas market next to the Rathaus where everybody could try out some special seasonal specialties like Lebkuchen or Maroni.
The Year 7 students were fantastic; they were well behaved and represented the school in a very good way. We, the Year 7 German teachers, were very proud of them.
