Children begin to understand their environment and learn how to respect and look after nature by exploring animal life, plants and life cycles. Learning outdoors provides rich opportunities to nurture imagination and problem solve.
The outdoor space enables children to freely move and become active and healthy. It develops and enhances their physical capabilities to move upwards and outwards building their confidence to climb and move safely. They can explore places and discover things in the world around them through using their senses.
The children in the Early Years Centre here at BISB experience all these opportunities in our outside learning area. The climbing areas cater for all physical abilities and enable children to challenge themselves. They can join in with team games on the astro turf learning different sports skills and how to work together. There are many opportunities to explore nature within the environment and use their imagination effectively. We are also lucky to have an outside stage, mud kitchen and sand area to enhance all areas of learning. Children learn best when active, therefore the children here at BISB have many opportunities to reach their full potential through the outdoor learning area.
