After a pizza lunch we moved on to the radio building to join the live band and a cappella group who were already rehearsing there. The students were given their Big Sing T-shirts and at last looked like one huge choir. The rehearsals went really well and the students were introduced to 'The Humberside Six' who were to perform in the concert and also perform one song with the Big Sing Choir.
The Humberside Six performed Black is the Colour with the choir and after a quick rehearsal decided not to sing the solo and that we should pick a student to sing it. It was a hard choice as there were many talented soloists from the schools but eventually we picked Lottie from Budapest School who is playing Annie next month in their show and also our very own Louisa Laursen. They sang the solo jointly and very beautifully providing a special stand out moment in the concert.
After a couple of hours rehearsal with the band the audience arrived and it was time to put a show on. The choir started with a bit of a competition with Miss Howarth's side and Mrs Trout's side battling it out with an amazing Kumela Vista call and response before joining forces on 'Sing Together' embodying what the whole concert was about.
10 songs and 2 a cappella appearances later they finished the concert off with a rousing rendition of 'I'm a believer' with the Boys' Choir belting out their Shrek interjections that they learned earlier in the year for the secondary show.
Mrs Hatinova's band made up of the peri teaching team were fantastic and the students loved being part of it. As everyone left they were already talking about next year.
We can't wait!
