New teachers at BISB from September 2017

Emily Stewart - Primary
Emily is coming to us from the UK. This is Emily’s first overseas posting, she has been in her past school in Warwickshire for the last 13 years as acting deputy Head teacher. Emily will be working in our Reception A class from next academic year.

Joanne Coxage - Primary
Joanne is joining us from the Cambridge International School in Bratislava. Previous to this she was at the British School in Bucharest and prior to this in the UK. Joanne will be working in the Year 4 team next year.

Laura Cliss - Primary
Laura is joining us directly from her UK primary school, Westwood Community School, where she has been since 2012 as a Year group leader and a subject leader for English. This is Laura’s first overseas posting and she will become part of our Year 5 team next academic year.

Sarah Thorpe - Primary
Sarah worked for us this academic year in Term 1 in Year 3, she is returning in September into a fulltime role with us. Sarah will be working in Reception B next academic year.
Heidi Rowlands - Secondary Chemistry
Heidi is joining us from Jerudong International School in Brunei where she is currently Head of Chemistry. She will be joining us with her son Neran who is 6.

Paul Greed - Primary EAL
Paul is joining our EAL team from our NAE School in Abu Dhabi, he has also previously worked in our NAE School in Puxi Shanghai China and for significant periods with the British Council.

Shazad Khan - Secondary Physics
Shazad is joining us from the British School of Alexandria Egypt. Prior to this he was in the British School of Egypt, Cairo and previous to this in a number of UK schools.

Mike Shkurka - Secondary Mathematics
Mike is joining us from the British International School Jakarta as a Mathematics teacher. He is the partner of Kathryn Barnard our new Secondary deputy Head.

Katarina Horvathova - Primary and Secondary French
Katarina joins us from QSI Bratislava, where she is currently employed as a Primary, Secondary and IB French teacher.

James Williamson
James joined us in 2012 as a Teaching Assistant and then was promoted to a HLTA, upon successful completion of his PGCE teaching qualification he now joins us in the role of a full time teacher in Year 3.

Maria Klimesova - Secondary French Teacher
Maria is joining us from a local Language school in Bratislava where she is currently teaching French. She has also worked for the ministry of Foreign affairs as a Slovak to French translator.

Kerri De Comarmond - University and Careers Guidance
Kerri is joining us in September in the role of full time University and careers guidance. She is currently working in a Lycée Notre Dame du Grandchamp, Versailles, Paris.

Secondary Art Teacher to be confirmed
We also have a number of New HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistants) & Teaching Assistants (TA) who are joining us in August:

  • Sue Pearson (Primary HLTA) Sue will be the HLTA for KS1 & KS2. She has previously worked as a TLA and sports coach in the UK.
  • Kate Bayles (Part Time Primary TA) - Kate will be working in Year 3. Kate has worked in project management and has been helping as a volunteer in Primary for the last year.
  • Lenka Niznanova (Primary TA Maternity cover) - Lenka will be working in Year 1. She returns from the UK where she has been working as an Early Years Teacher.
  • Lucia Cebova (Secondary HLTA). Lucia has worked as a teacher of English Language and a translator.
  • Kelly Martin (Primary TA) - Kelly will be working in Nursery A and in Learning Support. She has worked as a LS assistant with us before and has experience of teaching EAL.
