This was such good fun; the snowshoes allowed us to go to areas on the glacier that you normally cannot access. We were all roped together and some people found the snowshoeing difficult so that the students had to work amazingly hard as a team to stay upright and together! For lunch we sat with a view of the whole of the Alps. The following day we visited a cheese and chocolate factory, where we did the chocolate eating challenge which was to try and taste each type of chocolate that they make. We then visited a beautiful medieval castle and learnt some fantastic historical facts and saw some amazing medieval paintings
Then we finished the trip with a two-day hike, climbing 1000 metres to reach a height of 2000 metres. We saw salamanders, eagles and deer; we walked through forests and over snow plains. We also found a seesaw and we made a snow slide and had fun playing in the snow. The students all did amazingly well as they did all the planning and navigated whilst on the route. They stayed in a hut on the top of the mountain, which had amazing views of all the other mountains around and they had to cook their own food outside and made an excellent chickpea curry!
All the students should be so proud of themselves as they have worked so hard and developed so much.
