Our students continue to significantly outperform UK national averages.
- 42.7% of all GCSE and IGCSE grades achieved by The British International School Bratislava students were at the highest levels of A* or A. This is 22 % higher than the 2017 UK average of 21.7 %.
“It is fantastic to see the progress our students make in their journey with us here in Bratislava and their academic achievements this year are exceptional. It is clear that they have responded to the dedication and commitment of their teachers and we are delighted that they can now embark on the IB diploma programme with such strong qualifications.” Karen Eastwood, Principal of British International School Bratislava said.
These exceptional results are the culmination of the hard work and dedication of our students, our ambitious approach and the support of our excellent teachers. On behalf of our school community, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our teachers for always inspiring and challenging our students to achieve more than what they may have thought possible.
GCSEs and IGCSEs are some of the most academically challenging courses currently on offer to 14-16 year old students worldwide. They are respected by universities and employers and offer students the opportunity to study a broad range of subjects in preparation for further study aged 16-18 through the International Baccalaureate.
A continuation of the English National Curriculum, the full two-year program features a combination of coursework and exam work. Students will generally take ten subjects and upon passing are awarded qualifications in a full range of core subjects including languages, sciences, humanities, social sciences, arts and design and mathematics. Top universities around the world look to these qualifications as a benchmark of academic performance when considering applications.
