Cambiata Trip

18 January 2018

This weekend was the first of our two boys' choir trip to the UK.  They teamed up with other boys from across the UK to form the 'Northwest Cambiata Choir' - a choir for boys with changing voices.  Strictly no girls allowed, except for Miss Howarth and Mrs Fourie the organizer!  The rehearsal was fantastic with the boys singing a wide variety of songs from Oasis' 'Don't look back in anger' to some Schubert Lieder with 'The Erlkonig'.

Conductor Ian Crawford, was joined by fellow conductor, opera singer and Miss Howarth's former pupil, Jack Dolan. Jack took a break from his studies at Birmingham Conservatoire to come and lead the boys.  It was a fantastic day and we cannot wait for the concert in February.

The Cambiata trip also has its social side and the boys enjoyed a day out at Spaceport in Liverpool, learning about space, and about how astronauts survive at the international space station.  From there they ferried across the Mersey to see a sunken U-boat from World War II and they walked around the famous Albert Docks.  After singing on Saturday, they enjoyed a cinema trip, and before returning home on Sunday they had to find their way out of an escape room in Manchester!

Some very tired boys arrived home late on Sunday night; they had an amazing time and are eager to go again in a few weeks.
