Full STEAM Ahead for the First Great M.I.T Challenge!

Steam challenge

After the half-term holiday, BISB will be ready to go full STEAM ahead with the first of our MIT challenges! All will be revealed after half term, but what we can tell you now is that the Challenge, entitled “Epic Identity”, will be undertaken by children in Primary and Secondary up to Year 10.

The Primary children are guaranteed to have a super time in the second week back after the holiday, designing and making top secret gadgets in their afternoons, and many of the Secondary students will complete the task during dedicated STEAM time once a week, up until December.

Secondary students were fortunate enough to take part in a STEAM Activity earlier in the academic year when they were tasked with making musical instruments on their Challenge Days. For this, they brought in lots of junk materials which could be used to make their instruments.

This time round, we are putting out a request to Primary children at BISB; we are looking for all sorts of materials that can be used for our MIT challenge:

  • Broken toys
  • Broken instruments
  • Broken electrical items
  • Old clothes, hats and shoes (too damaged to be given away or resold)
  • Old materials
  • Polystyrene and foam
  • Recyclable materials: cardboard, paper, plastic, empty bottles, string, ribbon
  • Old decorations

All donations will be very thankfully accepted after half term.
