House event in Primary

08 March 2018

February 16th, the Friday before half term, saw morning lessons suspended in order for Years 2 to 6 to participate in various House activities.

Currently, our school is excited about the STEAM initiative which was kickstarted in January. To endorse this enterprise, our House activities required the children to use their scientific, technological, engineering, artist and mathematical skills. All skills were sharpened well that day.

The most popular activity seemed to be the Marshmallow Catapult which not only fired edible missiles but allowed to children to get a sweet reward once they had finished. More time might have been needed for the construction of famous landmarks but many groups created superb Eiffel Towers and Empire State Buildings just out of pipe cleaners, foil and tape. My personal favourite was the pom-pom drop: a pom-pom or a small ball had to be rolled though as many kitchen rolls as possible before it hit the ground.

Great work from the children and a big thanks to all staff involved.
