We attended rehearsals on Thursday and Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday but there was also time to visit some other areas of Berlin for some non-music activities. On the Thursday we visited Berlin Zoo and also the famous Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at Kurfurstendamm which was damaged in WWII. We were very lucky to be travelling with one of our history experts Miss Statovci who led us on a walking tour on the Friday teaching us about the history of Berlin and pointing out famous places.
On Saturday evening we attended a wonderful choral concert by AMIS (Association of Music in International Schools) who we are members of. Over 150 15-21 year olds took to the stage and made an amazing sound. We are looking forward to being able to join these concerts as participants in the future.
On Sunday evening we visited the IMAX cinema at Potsdammer Platz and made the popcorn sellers' day with a request for 21 boxes!
On Monday some of our braver members went to the top of the TV tower whist the rest of us kept our feet firmly on the ground and did some shopping at Alexanderplatz before flying home.
Everyone had a wonderful time and we are looking forward to going again next year to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
