Year 9 German trip to the ORF Studios in Vienna

31 May 2018

On Friday 25 May, the Year 9German students visited the Austrian national broadcaster ORF in Vienna to broaden their knowledge about media with a guided backstage tour given in German.

The students saw different areas such as a workshop where the decoration and backdrop for shows are produced, and a studio where they got an idea about the work of a director, camera operator and presenter. We also admired the exhibition of the clothes of stars who had been in ORF shows; we even saw the golden dress of the Eurovision Song Contest winner of 2016 - Conchita Wurst! The students especially enjoyed playing with the cameras in the Blue Room where their bodies were ‘cut off’ and their heads then placed on different bodies, and when they were put in front of different backdrops. Were these perhaps the first steps on the path of future stars?
