Thursday saw the culmination of a term's work studying Shakespeare's The Tempest. Every student in Y9 has been involved both in a stage role and in a design aspect of the performance: lighting, costume, set, props and sound. Students worked together to workshop the play: directing and encouraging each other, editing the text and blocking the scenes. We saw moments of drama on board a ship in the middle of a tempest (storm), moments of magic, moments of romance and many moments of comedy. The students have overcome problems such as access to the stage, last minute cast changes and even an acting injury in the first performance, which led to an addition of a crutch in the evening show.
Overall students completed a successful and enjoyable performance and should be proud of their role in the project.
