On April 3rdthere were 3 activities: ACT TO CHANGE, SPEAK TO CHANGE and BIKELAB.
For the ACT TO CHANGE activity, students proposed energy saving projects, which they will be awarded prizes for. The prize for the winning class will be a waffle party! For the next activity (SPEAK TO CHANGE), we raised awareness about the amount of energy we use, how much energy we want to save, and what is required of people to save energy. We did this by using art. The BIKELAB activity involved a bike that generates electricity. So every pedal generated a little electricity in a renewable way.
On Thursday April 4th, there were two main activities. The first activity was the ECO QUIZ which took place during active tutor time. Students were quizzed on how much they know about energy. The second activity lasted the entire day; it was the UNPLUGGED DAY! Students spent the entire day without electronic devices in the class (including phones, iPads, laptops, etc).
The eco-committee also ACTS TO CHANGE. We noticed that teachers and students could save energy by remembering 3 simple tips. We put these together on small signs and placed them in each classroom.
