Even though the students could not do the activities at school, they could still complete them at home or online with their friends. KS3 took part in two lots of activities, which all promoted saving of resources as this year the slogan of the eco-school project is LESS IS MORE. The student could choose from the following:
- INVESTIGATE COOKING -Investigate ways of making cooking energy efficient - e.g. how much energy can you save if you use lids; how much energy can you save if you boil only the right amount of water in a kettle...
- IMPACT YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY - design a poster for your neighborhood about recycling/saving resources - place it a public space, take a picture with it, send it to us
- REPORT ABOUT YOUR FAMILY - making a video about what they do in their home to be friendly to nature
- COOKING WITHOUT ENERGY - make a video of making a meal without any electricity or gas (parental supervision)
We have been impressed with the work submitted so far and we are sharing at least a few posters that some students made for their community.
The eco-committee put together a survey to learn more about what BIS families do to protect the environment. At first, we thought the survey would be for parents and we would organise some workshops for them at school as the follow-up. As it is not possible now, we decided that the survey would be for the students and we will aim the follow up on them.
Throughout these activities, we were hoping to encourage others to consider GREEN CHOICES in their every day lives, SAVE resources whenever possible because LESS IS MORE and take responsibility for the environment in which we live in. PLEASE JOIN US TOO!
