Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 follow an English and Welsh National Curricula — with a few tweaks. As a reflection of our multicultural student body, we offer an adapted curriculum including Slovak and Korean curricula for our national students. Pupils may also decide to build out their linguistic capabilities with additional French, German or Spanish courses.
Our Key Stage 3 curriculum covers a robust and well-rounded list of subject areas, including English, mathematics, sciences, physical education, geography, history, ICT, art and design, drama, dance and PSHCE. Students continue to expand their skillsets and interests through our advanced extracurricular club opportunities.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 -11)
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
In Years 10 and 11, students focus intensively on studying for their IGCSE certificates. At BISB, we follow the Cambridge IGCSE courses to help students prepare for their future IB diploma programme studies. During their two-year IGCSE courses, students may pick between 7 and 11 specific subject areas, including mandatory core subjects as well as optional programmes in music, art, physical education and more.
Key Stage 4 provides an invaluable opportunity for students to begin to specialize in areas of their choice in preparation for future academic and career pursuits.
After completing their two years of study, students typically sit for their examinations in May or June. Our IGCSE courses are recognized globally for their rigor and depth of study, which helps translate to international schools and universities around the world. Once a student receives passing results from their IGCSE examinations, they are accepted into our IB diploma programme.
For more information on our IGCSE curriculum, please see the IGCSE Curriculum Guide.
Key Stage 5 (Years 12 - 13)

During the final stage of their secondary education, students in Years 12 and 13 study for the IB Diploma. This challenging two-year course is designed to culminate in the award of the IB Diploma, one of the most highly regarded and globally recognized certifications for university entrance. Due to our rigorous academics and outstanding teaching staff, BISB students outperform the IBDP global average year after year. In fact, 12% of BISB students rank in the top 2% of students worldwide.
