Applying to UK

There is a huge amount of choice in UK higher education and world class universities and it is the most popular destination for students from our school.

  • uk uni

Applications are made through UCAS. Each student can apply to a maximum of 5 courses.

  • Early applicants (15th October) all other applicants (15th January). These are the final deadlines and school will set earlier deadlines so all additional information can be sent on time.
  • Universities will offer successful applicants conditional offers based on IB points scores. You then select a Firm Choice and an Insurance Choice from the offers you have received. Your Insurance Choice should be asking for a lower number of points than your Firm Choice.

  • If you then achieve the grades in your IB Diploma you will have your place at university confirmed.

  • Many UK universities have links with other European universities through the Erasmus programme and it is possible for students studying at UK universities to study at a university in a different European country for part of their course.
  • University open days in the UK

Universities in England

  • Tuition fees are now up to £9250 per year. UK and other EU students can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan. Tuition fees are paid in installments by the student once they have graduated.
  • Each university also offers different financial support, fee waivers, scholarships and bursaries so you need to check the university's website to find out if you are eligible.
  • If your final choice changes after your IB results come out you should then complete an EUC01 form.

Student Finance England - EU applicants

  • If you are an EU national you need to complete an EU12N form to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan. This can be done after you have confirmed your choices with UCAS.
  • If you are a UK national you need to make an online application to Student Finance England to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan and a Maintenance Living Cost Loan. Bear in mind that you need a UK address in order to apply for the Maintenance Loan.

Student Finance England - UK applicants

  • International students (non EU) are not entitled to Tuition Fee Loans. But you should research if there are other scholarships and fee waivers available to you.

Universities in Scotland

Currently Scottish universities do charge tuition fees, but these fees are paid by the Students Award Agency for Scotland for EU students(not English, Welsh, Northern Irish students).

This make Scotland an excellent choice for EU students!

English, Welsh and Northern Irish students can apply for a tuition fee loan from SAAS.

You should apply online after you have confirmed your choices with UCAS.

Universities in Wales

The Welsh government give 'fee grants' of around £5000 for EU students (not English) for students who go to university in Wales, a tuition fee loan is given for the remainder of the fees which should be repaid after graduation.
