After completing a degree in English and Communication, I spent 3 years working as an ESOL teacher in South Korea. Since completing a formal teaching qualification, I have worked as an EAL and Additional Needs teacher in international schools for much of the last 12 years, being able to call Shanghai, Cairo and Abu Dhabi my hometowns.
Travel has been a big part of my life for 18 years but I have spent little time in Europe; the opportunity to make Bratislava my new hometown is one I am delighted I took. Slovakia is a country that lives it's life outdoors and although I am a little afraid of the cold after 3 years in Abu Dhabi, I am excited to walk & cycle here, to experience a culture that will seem both new and familiar; perhaps with a couple of extra clothing layers on!
Slovak Teacher
I obtained my Master’s Degree in Slovak Language and Literature and Special Pedagogy /Teaching the blind and visually impaired/ from Comenius University in Bratislava. After my graduation I started to work in a newly opened British International School and became one of the first members of staff.
I graduated from the University of Presov with a Master's degree in the Slovak Language, Literature and History. I spent 12 years abroad in Iceland and the US. In Reykjavik, I studied Medieval History and finished with another MA degree.
Korean Teacher
I had studied TESL, especially for the young learners in Canada, and obtained a Master’s degree of TESOL(English Language Teaching Methodolody) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Korea in 2006.
German Teacher
I completed a Master of Arts in Economics and Geography 1996 in France and Germany and subsequently followed a Post-Graduate course on Development Policy. Since then I worked for over a decade in development cooperation in several countries in Africa and Asia as trainer and advisor in the fields of business promotion and vocational education.
I already knew by the time I was in primary school that I wanted to become a teacher, and that the German language is my passion. After completing my M.A. in German as foreign language in Berlin I decided to take a Master’s degree in History in Bratislava as well.
