I have worked in education since leaving university and have taught in UK State and Independent schools. I have moved to BISB from Kuala Lumpur where I was Head of Secondary in a large International School in the city.
As an educational leader in school I strive to ensure that students have outstanding learning opportunities during lessons, a plethora of enrichment activities outside the classroom and above all else the opportunity to be part of a caring, nurturing school community.

Deputy Head of Secondary
I studied BSc (Hons) Geography at the University of Leeds, and completed my teacher training through the University of Greenwich, UK. I worked as the Head of Geography and Geology for 3 years at an all-boys school in the UK before moving over to Slovakia in 2013. I love the international mindedness of working in an international school, and being part of the local community is also important to me because my husband is Slovak.

I was born and raised in New Jersey and spent many years in North Carolina before moving to Oxfordshire, England. After years of working in the art, hospitality and construction industries, I found my love of teaching. I have had the pleasure of working with students and other educators in the US, UK and Europe. I have taught languages and various Social Science courses as well as had educational leadership roles such as Head of Department, Head of Learning and Head of Upper School.

I am excited to be part of BISB, having taught English Language and Literature in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Egypt and China. This included four years, at The British International School in Shanghai, Puxi Campus where I taught KS3, IGCSE and IB Diploma classes. I enjoy seeing students challenge themselves, building their confidence, and expressing themselves creatively.

After completing a Physics degree in Queens University Belfast, I went on to study for the intensive Cambridge CELTA course, teaching English as a foreign language. It was my first teaching experience and I was hooked!
Head of A1 Languages & English Teacher & 9JY Tutor
After completing my degree in English Studies at the University of Strathclyde, I taught English as a second language in Gdansk, Poland for a year. I returned to the UK to complete a PGCE at the University of Manchester and then I worked in a grammar school in the UK for 5 years before moving to the Channel Islands, where I was Head of English in an independent girls’ school for 10 years. In 2012 we decided to enter the international scene and I moved with my family to China take up the position of SENCO at Nord Anglia’s British International School Shanghai, Puxi. Having thoroughly enjoyed the 2 years spent in Shanghai, I am now delighted I could return to Europe for the exciting role of Head of A1 Languages at BISB.
