James Gilmour

James Gilmour

Assistant Head of Secondary & English Teacher

James received a B.A.(Hons) in Journalism and started teaching through the Graduate Training Programme in 2005. He spent five years working in English state schools before moving to Qatar in 2010. During his three years in Doha, he was a Head of Year and Head of English.

In 2013, James moved to Brunei to be a boarding house supervisor and the TOK, EE and MUN coordinator at the International School of Brunei. After two years in the warmth of Southeast Asia, he moved to Dulwich College Beijing, China. Alongside teaching English and Theory of Knowledge, James was the College’s Director of Professional Development and Learning. Despite not learning the language, he enjoyed his time in China and whilst there, completed a Master of Education (Leadership and Management).

James is very pleased to be in Bratislava and has vowed to learn Slovak more successfully than he learnt Mandarin. He also looks forward to breathing clean air, hiking in the mountains, and exploring this part of Europe.
