Jonathan Bowen

British International School Bratislava_7JB Tutor_Jonathan Bowen

7JB Tutor & Physics Teacher

I teach Physics and Science to students from year 7 to year 13.  I qualified with my PGCE from Leicester University and have since taught in London, The Czech Republic, Thailand, Singapore, Chile and Tanzania.  I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work in some fantastic places and with amazing teachers and students from all over the globe.  I have been Head of Department in three schools and really enjoy working with the other teachers to give our students the best opportunities to enjoy their studies and to excel.

Outside of school I like to spend time with my family, read and try new experiences that my home has to offer such as Thai boxing, fencing in Singapore, Chilean Cueca dancing or camping amongst the animals in a Tanzanian game park.  I also enjoy tennis, bowling and golf.

I love to see my former students being successful, especially when they continue to follow their love of Science:

“I just wanted to tell you (if you don't already know) that I got a 7 in Physics! I'm so happy.
Thank you so much for believing in me because at some point I really stopped believing in myself, and you pushed me to work harder.”

D.P. Physics student

“Jonathan Bowen was my IB Physics teacher, and extended essay advisor during my junior and senior year. I can confidently say that he has been the most influential teacher from my high school years, and has a large role to play in helping me be where I am today.”
