Students visit Tamedia printers

During “Media week”, 5thA students (and soon 5thB students) visited the Tamedia printers in Bussigny.

They discovered the different stages of producing a newspaper: storing paper, printing text and images on plates, the impressive work of the rotary printing press, the area where newspapers are sorted to be distributed in kiosks and other shops.

Terms such as magenta, cyan, yellow and black, offset methods, or saddle stitcher are now no secret to our students. They enjoyed the visit and were fascinated by technology involved in producing newspapers.

A visit of the 24Heures newsroom which will take place in April will enable students to understand how newspapers are being written. An inspiring visit which may give our students some ideas for their future…
