Teacher showcase: John Whinder

John Whinder is our Head of Primary English and is currently in his third year of teaching at Collège Champittet. Before moving to Switzerland, John worked in both independent and state schools in London, his home city. John is passionate about languages, and has been learning French since he arrived in Switzerland. As a teacher he emphasizes the importance of reading and the use of technology in learning, as well as creating a safe and relaxed environment in which the children can become independent and confident learners. He is also really enthusiastic about the opportunities that being part of the Nord Anglia group provides to both staff and pupils, from the Julliard programme to trips to the United Nations. In his spare time John is a keen supporter of the Charlton Athletic Football Club, as well as a keen traveler, completing the Inca trail in 2016 and looking forward to visiting Japan this year! As a perfectionist John believes “If a thing is worth doing, it’s worth doing well!”
